Parking Restrictions Start With Metro Repairs in Bethesda, Silver Spring

The week of Aug. 1 brings SafeTrack work on the Metro's Red Line, plus parking changes in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring.

BETHESDA, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is planning to restrict parking in Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Chevy Chase and Silver Spring next week because of SafeTrack repairs on the Metro’s Red Line.

The changes are being made to accommodate more commuters on the roadways.

According to the DOT website, no parking will be allowed between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day, from Aug. 1 -5, at parking meters on the following roads:

  • On Wisconsin Avenue (MD355) from Battery Lane to Bradley Boulevard/Lane in Bethesda.
  • On Wisconsin Avenue (MD 355) from Willard Avenue to Somerset Terrace in Chevy Chase and Friendship Heights.
  • On Georgia Avenue (MD 97) from Spring Street to the District Line and on Colesville Road (MD 29) from Spring Street to the Transit Center in Silver Spring.

Signs will be posted in the restricted areas and meter heads will be bagged.
