Sketch Released of Billy Goat Trail Sexual Assault Suspect

United States Park Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman jogging on the Billy Goat Trail.

POTOMAC, MD — Authorities have released a sketch of man who sexually assaulted a woman on the Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls in late April, an incident only recently reported to police.

About 1 p.m. on April 27, a woman was jogging on the Billy Goat Trail when she was approached by a man who asked her a question, the United States Park Police said in a statement. When the woman stopped, the man grabbed her and began to assault her before fleeing when hikers approached the scene, the statement said.

The suspect was described to police as a white man in his mid- to late 20s, about six feet tall with a medium build and short brown hair. The attacker was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black athletic pants with a white stripe on the side.

Park Police only recently learned of the assault, The Washington Post reports.
