What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2017 In Bethesda, Montgomery County

What's open and closed in Montgomery County for the Labor Day 2017 holiday?

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County offices and libraries are closed, but liquor stores will be open on Monday, Sept. 4, for the Labor Day holiday. For the first time in two decades, schools were ordered by the governor to wait until after Labor Day to begin the school year; classes start Sept. 5 in Montgomery County Public Schools.

  • County Offices – closed
  • Libraries – closed
  • County Liquor stores – all stores will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Recreation – Bethesda, Germantown, Western County, Wheaton/Glenmont and MLK outdoor aquatic facilities will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Olney Indoor Swim Center will be open normal hours; all other indoor aquatic facilities, as well as the Long Branch and Upper County outdoor pools, will be closed. Administrative offices, senior centers and community centers are closed.

  • TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) – closed

  • The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station - closed
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free MCPS Schools and Administrative Offices – closed
  • State offices and courts – closed

Rockville City Facilities

According to a news release, these Rockville facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 4:

  • Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers.
  • Rockville Senior Center.
  • Croydon Creek Nature Center.
  • Glenview Mansion.
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.

The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open. For individual swim and fitness center facilities hours, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter.

Recycling, yard waste and refuse collection will be suspended on Sept. 4 and made one day later than usual throughout the week, with Thursday collection occurring on Friday, Sept. 8.
