The department described the encounter this way:
“We wanted to share a kind gesture that made quite an impression on two of our officers. The officers were eating lunch at a restaurant in our county recently. This note was delivered to them at their table by a server. A stranger, who had been a recent victim of crime, wrote them this note and paid for their meal. She left before our officers could thank her. The officers and our entire department truly appreciate her support and wish her well.”

The rest of the April 3 message to police said, “I was assaulted earlier this week, and officers like you were there for me. Thank you!”
Most Facebook readers chimed in with their messages of thanks and support, but a few raised the issue of police shootings across the country, or asked why their crime wasn’t solved.
Here’s a sampling from the online conversation:
Joy Adams Santos wrote: “Very kind gesture. Nice to feel appreciated when you have to do such a thankless job most of the time. Bless our officers!”
May Tunji posted “I was assaulted and robbed at Carleton East Apartment. When will I have justice?”
And Andrea Beach said, “love this so much!!!!!! Love PGPD”
