$1M Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Jessup As Powerball Reaches $1.23B
A winning ticket worth $1M has been sold in Jessup from Wednesday's Powerball drawing. The jackpot for the next drawing is $1.23 billion.

JESSUP, MD — Nobody nabbed the Powerball jackpot in the April 3 drawing, but one Howard County player is $1 million richer.
A $1 million winning Powerball ticket from Wednesday's drawing was sold at the Royal Farms #230 at 7136 Montevideo Road in Jessup. It was the fifth $1 million winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland during the current jackpot roll, and was one of nine $1 million winning tickets sold across the country in the April 3 drawing.
The ticket matched the first five numbers (11, 38, 41, 62 and 65), but did not match the Powerball number (15).

If the jackpot is hit at $1.23 billion on Saturday, it would be the fourth largest in Powerball history and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history. The jackpot was last hit on New Year’s Day when an $842.4 million prize was won on a ticket sold in Michigan.
Maryland players must buy their Powerball tickets by 9:59 p.m. ET to be eligible for Monday’s drawing at 10:59 Eastern Time. Drawings are held at the same time on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The jackpot prizes in each game may be paid over 30 years, but most winners take the lump sum. They immediately see fewer dollars flow into their account than if they took the 30-year annuity because the federal government takes its cut off the top.
Lottery winnings are subject to federal income tax at a rate of 24 percent, and Maryland takes 8.75 percent in taxes.
