21 Vehicles Spray-Painted in Columbia: Police
Howard County Police Department is investigating whether vandalism is related to previous spray-paint incidents.
Police took two people into custody in connection with vehicle vandalism in Columbia over the weekend.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, officers responded to a call about property that was being destroyed in the 9700 block of Softwater Way, according to a report from the Howard County Police Department.
Police said 21 vehicles had been vandalized with graffiti. The vehicles had been spray-painted, according to Howard County Police Department spokeswoman Lori Boone.

After investigating, police took two suspects into custody, and authorities said Monday they were looking into whether the vandalism was connected to earlier acts of vandalism in Columbia.
Since December, more than 260 vehicles have been spray-painted in the area.

According to police, the vandalism over the weekend was not believed to be gang-related or motivate by hate-bias.
“Police are looking into the possibility this incident may be connected to similar cases in the past year,” the department reported.
