Columbia Chef Among Maryland Chef Of The Year Nominees

COLUMBIA, MD — The chef at The Turn House is in the running for the title of Maryland's chef of the year for 2019. Thomas Zippelli has been nominated for the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Stars of the Industry Awards. The trade association sponsors the competition each year, and the public is invited to weigh in through online voting.

To win the title of Maryland's chef of the year, Zippelli will have to get more votes than four other contenders.

These are the nominees for chef of the year, according to the Maryland Restaurant Association:

• Ashish Alfred of Duck Duck Goose
• Kaimana Chee of Uncle's Hawaiian Grindz
• Josh Hershkovitz of Hersh's
• Catina Smith of Just Call Me Chef
• Thomas Zippelli of The Turn House

Winners will be announced May 5 at the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Stars of the Industry Awards Gala at the Renaissance Harborplace in Baltimore.

Voting continues through Monday, April 1.
