Middle Schoolers Invited To Compete In National Civics Bee, 1st Round Deadline Is Jan. 8
The National Civics Bee is being organized locally by the Howard County Chamber of Commerce. Middle schoolers can submit an essay by Jan. 8.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Middle schoolers interested in participating in the National Civics Bee program who live in Howard County are encouraged to start the process by entering the first round civics essay competition.
Community leaders including government officials, business leaders and educators will review each of the 500-word essay submissions. The top 20 students will be selected to move on to the final round of competition, which constitutes a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge.
Students should submit their essays before Jan. 8 online. The finalists and top winners will receive various prizes. The top three winners will advance to compete at the state level.

The National Civics Bee is being organized locally by the Howard County Chamber of Commerce. The first event was kicked off in 2022-2023. The National Civics Bee is designed to encourage young Americans to engage in civics, contribute to their communities and become better informed about American democracy.
