No-Kill Cat Shelter Needs A New Home

Help Us Help Cats

The Howard County Cat Club is in urgent need of space for our cage-free, no-kill shelter. A small retail or commercial space, outbuilding, garage with windows or the walkout basement of a private home would work. So would a tiny piece of land where we could put a 16X24 shed that we'd turn into the most fabulous cat shelter ever. We need to be within a 15-minute drive of Columbia and can pay a small amount of rent. We'll pay our own utility bills. To learn more, write to Howardcountycats@comcast.net.

THIS IS WHAT WE NEED IN A SHELTER

-- A vacant retail or office space. The walkout basement of a private home would work, too, as long as it has a separate entrance. Other possibilities include a garage with windows or an outbuilding, or a tiny piece of land where where we could turn a 16x24 shed into the most fabulous cat shelter ever. We can pay a small amount of rent.

-- Because of our work schedules, we'd like to be within a 15-minute drive of Columbia.

-- The space needs heating and air conditioning, working electricity and running water. We want it be a welcoming, comfortable place, not just for the cats, but for our volunteers and potential adopters who come to visit.

-- Parking for no more than three cars.

-- Space for our outdoor enclosure or “catio.”

ABOUT THE HOWARD COUNTY CAT CLUB

-- We've been rescuing cats for nearly 20 years. We're a responsible, reliable, catcentric rescue. We'll be glad to provide references if you'd like to see them.

-- All of our cats are neutered/spayed, microchipped and have current vaccinations.

-- HCCC is a rescue for adult cats and rarely has kittens. We never have very young kittens or expectant moms. Most of the cats come from the Baltimore/Washington area's kill shelters, although some are “owner give-ups.”

-- A dedicated team of volunteers cares for the cats 365 days a year, including holidays. We take used litter and other trash with us and dispose of it at home. We never leave it to collect in the shelter.

-- We never publish our address anywhere, so people who don't belong there won't find your property.

-- In addition to sheltering cats who have absolutely nowhere else to go, we provide free cat behavior consultations by email, advise feral cat caretakers and help people rehome cats they can't keep.

Over the years, we've saved hundreds of cats, like the beautiful Farley (formerly Mr. Jeff) in the picture. Please, please help us continue our life-saving work. The cats need us, and we need you! To learn more, write to Howardcountycats@comcast.net. Thank you!
