Crofton Swimmers Come Up Short Versus Rollingwood

Despite a number of first-place finishes, Crofton loses by eight

The Crofton Aquatic Team Swimmers will try to bounce back this weekend following a tough dual meet loss last Saturday.

Crofton is headed to Roland Run on Saturday to swim there (2211 W. Joppa Road, Lutherville). This comes a week after Rollingwood edged Crofton, 248-240,

Even though Crofton had a close loss, it had a number of very good performances from boys and girls, several of whom won more than one race.

On the girls’ side, Lauren Poole won the 9-10 group’s 25-meter butterfly and breaststroke  plus the 100 IM. Annie Eckhardt took the 100 IM also, winning hers in the 13-14 division. She also captured the 50 breaststroke.

Allyson Priebe captured the 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke in the 6-and-under division. Claire Twomey won the 25 freestyle and 25 breaststroke in the 8-and-under races.

Kasey Pearson was the other multiple race winner for the Crofton girls. She took the 13-14 100 freestyle plus the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly.

Allison Corey (9-10, 50 freestyle), Gabrielle Farmer (9-10, 25 backstroke), Abigail Farmer (11-12, 50 backstroke), Claire Igoe (15-18, 50 back), Emily Schlosser (11-12, 50 butterfly) and Christina Wellner (15-18, 50 breaststroke) each won one race.

The boys also fared very well, led by Sean Twomey and Sam DeVito, each of whom won three races.

Twomey won the 11-12 100 IM, 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke. DeVito took the 25 backstroke, 25 breaststroke and 50 freestyle in the 9-10 division.

Trent Scholosser won the 9-10 100 IM plus the 25 butterfly. John Flanagan took the 11-12 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly. Ian Jenstrom finished first in the 15-18 100 IM and 50 backstroke.

Adam Wellner took the 13-14 50 breaststroke, and Max Conant won the same race in the 15-18 division.

Crofton comes back home for a meet versus Westminster next Saturday morning at 8 am. After that, Crofton will have another meet on the road on July 23 at Springlake, which is near Roland Run in the Lutherville-Timonium area.
