Crofton Turns In Several Good Performances in Recent Swim Meet

Both boys and girls win several races versus tough Roland Run team earlier this month

The Crofton swim team ran into a tough Roland Run swim team a few weeks ago, but they still came away with a number of good performances.

Gabrielle Farmer led the way on the girls side. She captured three different events in the 9-10 division. She won the 50-yard freestyle plus the 25 backstroke as well as the 25 breaststroke.

Emily Schlosser took home a pair of firsts in the 11-12 group. She won the 100 IM (individual medley) and the 100 freestyle

Annie Eckhardt won two similar events in the 13-14 age division. In that area, Eckhardt won both the 100 IM and the 100 freestyle.

Allison Corey and Samantha Mason both tied for first in the 9-10 100 IM – something that’s tough to do.

Christina Wellner, Allyson Priebe, Claire Twomey and Abigail Farmer all won one event apiece in individual events.

Wellner took the 15-18 100 freestyle, and Priebe won the 6-and-under 25 backstroke. Twomey got the top spot in the 8-and-under 25 breaststroke, and Farmer captured the 11-12 50 breaststroke.

The boys also had a few swimmers come away from more than one first-place finishes.

Sean Twomey won three races in the 11-12 division. He took the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 100 IM.

John Malloy also came away with three firsts. He did it in the 15-18 division, capturing the 100 IM, 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

In the 9-10 division, Sam DeVito won twice. He took the 100 IM and the 50 freestyle. Adam Wellner also got two wins – taking the 13-14 100 IM and 100 freestyle.

Another two-race winner was John Flanagan, who took the 11-12 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

Colin McCarthy, Brendan Fant, Nathaniel Harris, Patrick Wagner and Patrick Forbus also won one race apiece.

McCarthy won the 6-and-under 25 freestyle, and Fant grabbed the 25 backstroke in the same division. Wagner won the 8-and-under 25 breaststroke while Forbus captured the 13-14 50 breaststroke.

Crofton also earned victories in six of the relay races, which had both boys and girls from various age groups.

They won the 200 freestyle relay in four divisions-- the boys 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and mixed 15-18. The other two relay victories came in the mixed 6-and-under and mixed 8-and-under 100 freestyle.
