“It proved something to myself. I proved that I could do it,” Neil said. “It gave me a lot more confidence.”

“We’re very excited. Neil took it upon himself to move to a level beyond high school,” said his father, Patrick Donohue.
Neil is an active student athlete. He is a swimmer at Crofton Country Club, while playing lacrosse and football for Archbishop Spalding.
“He started off playing short pole midfield running offense and defense,” said Patrick Donohue. “Around age 13 he started playing long pole defense.”
The defensive midfielder will play in the National Lacrosse Classic July 5-8 in Germantown. This competition brings together the top high school underclassmen lacrosse players from across the country.
“He’s very accomplished. In tune with his abilities,” said Patrick Donohue. “As a parent, that’s all that you can do is be happy for your child.”
Neil Donahue said he hopes to study computer engineering after high school. He said he would love to attend Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia with his sister Alexandra.
“If the chance comes to play Division I, II or III, I’ll be happy,” Donahue said. “When you step on the field it doesn’t matter because it’s still college lacrosse.”
