Greivis Vasquez Visits The MACC Sports Camp

A former Terp and NBA basketball standout stopped by a Crofton camp to inspire youth athletes to excel academically, athletically and spiritually.

The Memphis Grizzlies and former University of Maryland Terrapin Greivis Vasquez stopped by to talk to the campers at the Camp.

Campers participating in the church’s basketball, field hockey and tennis camps had a chance to talk one-on-one with the former Terp basketball standout.

Wednesday Vasquez spoke to the student athletes about his experience growing up and working toward a career in the NBA. Camp Director Alan Loreg said Vasquez encouraged the kids to excel in school and to always do the right thing even when no one is looking.

“It’s great to have him stop by and talk with the kids, what an excellent role model for the kids in our community,” said Loreg. He added, Vasquez told the youths about the importance of having Christian faith and living for the Lord.

The MACC kicks off its vacation bible school program called Monday afternoon July 18.
