Residents can stop by Saturday's Anne Arundel County Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Lowe's in Severn to learn more.

Local emergency officials are urging residents to stop by Saturday’s Anne Arundel County Emergency Preparedness Fair in Severn to learn how to pre-plan for the unexpected.
The recent record-breaking rains in Anne Arundel County showed how fast emergencies can occur. Authorities have organized the Preparedness Fair to help residents know how and where to get information and alerts from local and state emergency management agencies; and to understand the specific risks in the community and prepare for them.
“National Preparedness Month is an excellent time to create plans or to update your existing plan so that your family or business is ready in the event of an emergency,” said Fire Chief Michael Cox Jr.
“An emergency can happen anywhere at any time and this is an opportunity for people to learn how they can take control of their own safety and the safety of their loved ones,” said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis
The Preparedness Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Lowes of Quarterfield Shopping Center, 415 George Claus Blvd. in Severn.
