Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. The annual Fireman's carnival and parade have landed in Edgewater. The fun started on Monday and will run through Saturday. The carnival opens at 7 p.m. each evening, and runs until 10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday night, the carnival is open until 11 p.m.  It is located in the parking lot of London Towne Community Hall, 170 Mayo Road. Proceeds from the event benefit the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department. On Wednesday, there will be a parade from Edgewater Elementary to London Town Community Hall. The parade will line up at 5:30 p.m. at the school, located at 121 Washington Road. Taylor and Sons is providing the carnival rides this year.
