• Park Playground Closed In Ellicott City While Crews Replace Equipment (patch.com) — Families in Ellicott City should plan around a temporary closure at Centennial Park West, where the main playground and several nearby courts are shut for at least two months while equipment is replaced. The rest of the popular park, including other playgrounds and amenities, remains open from 7 a.m. to sunset, and residents can find alternative parks through Howard County's website.
   

• Howard County Department of Public Works to Host Community Outreach Open House on the Deepage Drive and Rustling Leaf Traffic Calming Project (howardcountymd.gov) — Howard County is inviting residents to a community open house on Oct. 21 to review traffic-calming plans for Deepage Drive and Rustling Leaf, a short drive from Ellicott City. Neighbors can see proposed speed humps and a raised intersection, ask questions, and submit comments in person or by email through Nov. 5.
