• Man killed in Gaithersburg pedestrian crash remembered as musician, mentor (fox5dc.com) — A Gaithersburg resident and beloved barbershop owner was struck and killed Friday night at North Frederick Avenue and Professional Drive, and police are still investigating the crash. Family and friends describe 61-year-old Craig Budd Sr. as a devoted mentor, musician, and community figure who supported local kids and the go-go music scene. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the collision to come forward.

• Maryland families, law enforcement demand tougher DUI laws for repeat offenders (wjla.com) — A deadly March head-on crash on Woodfield Road in rural Gaithersburg, which killed 26-year-old Raphaela Weinsweig, is fueling calls for tougher DUI laws in Maryland. The other driver, who died at the scene, had at least eight prior drunk-driving cases yet served limited jail time and remained on the road. Families and officers are now pressing lawmakers to treat repeat DUIs more seriously.

• Driver Charged in March Fatal Collision (montgomerycountymd.gov) — Montgomery County police in Gaithersburg have charged 24-year-old Daniel Danny Aguilar Medrano with two counts of negligent manslaughter by vehicle after a March 22 crash that killed two passengers. Investigators say he drove a BMW M8 up to 126 mph on Norbeck Road with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit before losing control. Medrano later turned himself in and was released on bond.
