• New MARC Service to Provide Direct Montgomery County-Baltimore Connection (wfmd.com) — Gaithersburg commuters will soon get a faster, one-seat MARC ride to Baltimore starting September 28, cutting travel time from 137 minutes to about 78. A new weekday train will link Gaithersburg with other Montgomery County stops and Baltimore Camden Station without a Union Station transfer, though riders should review updated Brunswick and Camden timetables.

• Montgomery County car thefts rise 22% despite national decline (wjla.com) — Drivers in Gaithersburg should know that vehicle thefts in Montgomery County have risen 22% over the past year, with the 6th District that includes Gaithersburg recording 324 stolen cars. While statewide thefts are down, local police say social media trends, vulnerable models like some Kias and Hyundais, and juvenile offenders are fueling the increase. Officials urge residents to lock cars, secure key fobs, and consider extra anti-theft devices.

• Friday night lights back in Montgomery County (mymcmedia.org) — High school football returns to Montgomery County, with Quince Orchard beginning its Class 4A state title defense at home against Paint Branch. The article recalls last season's dominant playoff run, including a 56-0 win over Gaithersburg, as the Cougars chase a sixth state championship under coach John Kelley.
