• Blair Witch Hike Coming to Gaithersburg on Halloween (mocoshow.com) — A special Blair Witch Heritage Hike is coming to Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg on Halloween, letting locals walk through actual filming locations from the 1999 horror classic. The guided hike will run October 31 from 3–6 p.m. at Button Farm, with registration opening October 1 and limited spots available, plus stories about the movie's production, local folklore, and the area's eerie history.
   

• Maryland expands self-service vehicle emissions kiosks (kioskmarketplace.com) — Drivers in Gaithersburg now have 24/7 access to a second self-service vehicle emissions testing kiosk, offering a slightly cheaper $26 inspection than staffed stations. Maryland plans to roll out seven more kiosks statewide, including added capacity at Bel Air, Beltsville, Silver Spring, and other busy testing locations over the coming months.
   

• Duke women's basketball 2026-27 player preview: Olivia Martin (dukechronicle.com) — A former Quince Orchard High School standout from Gaithersburg, Olivia Martin is entering her graduate season with Duke women's basketball after working her way from student manager to walk-on guard. The Gaithersburg native, a track record-holder and valedictorian, is expected to provide veteran leadership and a strong work ethic as Duke integrates a large group of new players this season.
