GERMANTOWN, MD — One person was injured after a Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into a Germantown convenience store Sunday night.

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. at the Shell gas station at 21000 Frederick Rd., according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.

He said the car smashed through the front of the gas station's convenient store and struck a patron. The patient was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear how and why the driver crashed the car. But according to WTOP, police have charged the driver with negligent driving and failure to obey a traffic control device.
