Lighthouse Installed At Havre de Grace Playground
Have you seen the new additions to Tydings Park?

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Tydings Park playground has received its latest installment of new equipment, including a replica of the Concord Point Lighthouse.
The lighthouse and climber meet safety standards set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act. The new items meet the city's goal of providing an all-access playground.
“Addressing the needs of all children is not just a hallmark of a 21st century city; it is also emblematic of the compassionate character of our citizens,” Mayor William T. Martin said in a statement. “The all-access playground we are creating at Tydings Park will give every child in our community the accessibility they need to enjoy the park, including those with disabilities.”

In addition to the lighthouse, there is a transfer station, seven-station play factory, inter-deck step, a sliding pole and arch logs.
The playground's renaissance was the result of the Tydings Park Commission, which gathered public input and outlined plans for the park's future. Last year the city added recycling containers and a Little Free Library to the park. It also expanded parking and sidewalk space on Commerce Street for increased accessibility and safety, city officials said. Earlier this year, the city added more playground equipment, such as a Tic-Tac-Toe.
