Mormon Temple Debuts 33rd Annual Festival of Lights

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints transforms into a winter wonderland on Dec. 3.

 grounds will transform into a winter wonderland covered in lights starting Dec. 3. This year marks the for the Mormon Temple.

From dusk until 10 p.m. nightly, guests are invited to visit the grounds to see the light display, which uses more than 500,000 lights. Outside a life-size Nativity scene will be displayed as well as 16 decorated trees. Guests are also invited to warm up inside the Temple's visitor center to view more Nativity sets representing different countries.

Additionally, the light festival includes nightly performances from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (except for a few which are noted on the pdf version of the schedule). Opening weekend brings a hand bell choir, the Suzuki Flute Ensemble and two performances on Sunday, Dec. 5.At 7 p.m. Lisa Opkins Seegmiller, who is a Tony Award winner and a Grammy nominee, will perform followed by a broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from Salt Lake City at 8 p.m.

The display is open to everyone through Jan. 1.
