The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating the report as a possibly "false call," Officer Jennifer Peach said.
A security officer's radio went missing and police thought that someone may have used it to file a false report, according to WBAL, which said the campus was on lockdown during the investigation.
The incident at Stevenson University comes a little more than a week after a report of an armed person at Harford Community College in Bel Air on June 17, prompting an hours-long search that did not lead authorities to any such individual.
