A shelter-in-place order was lifted after three hours at Stevenson University's Greenspring campus.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — There was a report of an armed person on Stevenson University's Greenspring campus Monday morning, school officials said, prompting a three-hour order to shelter in place.

Police said that officers were investigating it as a possibly false alarm.

Initially, Stevenson University issued an alert after 10:30 a.m. of an "armed person reported" on the Greenspring campus.

The university ultimately gave the "all clear" at approximately 1:30 p.m., stating: "Emergency situation no longer exists."

No shots were fired and no armed person had been found at the campus in the 1500 block of Greenspring Valley Road, officials said at 11:30 a.m.

The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating the report as a possibly "false call," Officer Jennifer Peach said.

A security officer's radio went missing and police thought that someone may have used it to file a false report, according to WBAL, which said the campus was on lockdown during the investigation.

The incident at Stevenson University comes a little more than a week after a report of an armed person at Harford Community College in Bel Air on June 17, prompting an hours-long search that did not lead authorities to any such individual.
