Angel Park Breaks Ground in Perry Hall
Groundbreaking ceremony heralded start of park that will include something for everyone. Next step: Community build day.
PERRY HALL, MD – Ground was broken Monday for Angel Park, next to the Perry Hall Library.
Elected officials and community members celebrated the next step in what has been a years-long process of planning the project, which is designed as a tribute to the memory of a lost child and for all those who have lost a loved one.
Andy and Kelli Szczybor of Perry Hall, whose son Ryan died of leukemia when he was 15 months old, are the inspiration behind the park.

Angel Park is envisioned as an interactive venue that will include an amphitheater and playground that will accommodate all children, including those with special needs. It will be surrounded by pickets and pavers where donors can memorialize those they consider to be angels.
“We wanted to call it Angel Park because there are so many people that have lost somebody,” Kelli Szcybor told Patch previously. “Angel Park—that’s for everybody.”

Community leaders have been working to bring the park on Honeygo Boulevard to fruition since 2012.
Construction will commence on July 8 with a community build day, according to County Executive Kamenetz.
