Head chef Harry George Kazanjian, of Silver Spring, was killed March 1 after being hit by a minivan. The incident happened near the intersection of Norbeck and Avery roads.

In a post shared on Facebook, the bakery noted that Kazanjian created baked goods at the shop for nearly 40 years.

"For 38 years, Harry was part of your birthdays, celebrations, and milestones. His gifted hands and brilliant mind created so many moments of sweetness in your lives," reads the post. "The absence he leaves behind is immeasurable."

The funeral service was held March 11, with the burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.

A fundraiser has been started for the Les Délices French Bakery and Kazanjian's family.
