Suspect Charged In October 2022 Shooting In Downtown Silver Spring
Montgomery County Police have charged one of the people they say was involved in the Oct. 22, 2022 shooting in downtown Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police detectives arrested 26-year-old Keshawn Simpson, of Silver Spring on Tuesday in connection a shooting that occurred last October in downtown Silver Spring, according to a release.
Officers responded around 10:36 a.m., on Oct 22, 2022 for the report of a shooting at the intersection of Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive, according to police. A preliminary investigation revealed that two Black men had shot at each other.
After determining through their investigation that Simpson was one of the men involved in the shooting, detectives obtained an arrest warrant. An officer on Dec. 16, 2022, tried to make a traffic stop on Simpson, but he fled, according to the release.

On Tuesday, police located Simpson and took him into custody. After taking him to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, police charged Simpson with first degree assault and firearm related charges. He he continues to be held in custody without bond.
The arrest of the second man involved in the shooting is still outstanding, according to police.
