Third Suspect Arrested In White Oak Drug Deal Homicides: Police

A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the Jan. 28 double homicide in White Oak that stemmed from a drug deal, police say.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A third suspect was arrested in connection with the Jan. 28 homicides of two men in White Oak described as stemming from a drug deal gone sour, police said.

Andy K. Panton, 20, was arrested on Monday after Montgomery County Police reviewed Metro bus surveillance video and obtained information from social media and an informant, according to charging documents.

The Beltsville resident was charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Jordan Alexander Radway, 23, and Christian Deon Roberts, 24, court records reveal. He is currently being held without bond.

In January, two 18-year-old suspects from Silver Spring were also charged in connection with Radway and Roberts' deaths. Dontaye Jamahl Hunt was charged with two counts of first-degree murder; and Noah Foster Barnett, was charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

Montgomery County Police believe that Barnett had contacted Radway on Jan. 28 to set up a marijuana deal between Radway and Hunt. They said Hunt and Radway then made contact.

Charging documents state that Hunt sent Radway a "pin" at 6:08 p.m., revealing his location on Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring.

Radway would have sold Hunt marijuana at that location, but the deal, according to investigators, fell through. Shortly after Hunt shared his location, Radway texted Roberts saying "these (n-word) bluffin,'" documents reveal. Officials said that the message suggests that the drug deal initially fell through because Hunt did not have the money.

Later that evening, Hunt asked Radway to meet him around 8 p.m. on Stewart Lane, just one block from where police found the victim's bodies.

According to charging documents, an affiant believes that since Hunt and his accomplice did not have the money to buy the marijuana, they planned on setting up another drug deal to lure Radway to a remote location and rob him of his marijuana.

At 8:22 p.m., Radway texted Hunt saying he was five minutes away.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., Radway and Roberts met Hunt in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane. Police said witnesses described hearing gunshots and saw a vehicle flee the scene minutes later.

At about 8:37 p.m., a 911 dispatcher received a call about a serious collision that had just occurred. According to police, the caller stated that a vehicle had hit multiple parked cars along Stewart Lane.

Authorities said they arrived on the scene and found Radway and Roberts dead with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle that had struck the parked cars.

According to charging documents, Hunt told police that he was seated in the right, rear passenger seat in the victim's car when Radway and Roberts were shot, and that Panton was involved in the drug deal and shooting. Hunt also admitted that he and Panton rode the bus together in the area earlier that evening.

Police said they are still investigating and ask anyone with information about the double homicide to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Anonymous tipsters can call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
