Future Of Towson Circle Unfolds As 'Circle East'

"Circle East" will reportedly tie together Towson Square and the Towson Circle area.

TOWSON, MD - After the closure of several businesses around Towson Circle, the developers of the area have come up with a new name.

The next iteration of the property along the Joppa-York road circle will be called "Circle East," sources say.

Retail Properties of America is developing the project, which calls for construction of high-rise apartments, retail and parking.

Circle East will include more than 300 residential luxury apartments, a pool, rooftop deck and dog park, according to the Baltimore Business Journal. A retail component will link Circle East through sidewalks to Towson Square, where CineMark is located, according to the business journal, which reported construction is expected to begin before the end of the year.

"Lively, distinct, and curated, Circle East is poised to become the focal point of aspirational retail in Towson," according to Retail Properties of America. The developer describes the project as "unlike anything in the area" and something that will "transform downtown Towson."

To create Circle East, Kinsley Construction will renovate the old Hutzler building inside and out into a shopping destination with underground parking, according to The Baltimore Sun. The high-rise apartments will be built in the parking lot across from the retailers, the newspaper reports.

Retailers will include national names, "boutique-style beauty destinations" and home decor shops, according to the developer.
