Andover High Student Named U.S. Presidential Scholar

Ethan Coyle is one of 161 American high school students selected for the honor.

From Andover Schools: Andover High School Senior Ethan Coyle was selected as a 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholar. Ethan is one of 161 outstanding American high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, technical expertise, leadership, citizenship, service, and contribution to school and community. The U.S. Presidential Scholars will be honored for their accomplishments in Washington D.C., from June 23-25.

“To be recognized as a U.S. Presidential Scholar is quite an achievement,” says Superintendent Sheldon Berman. “We are proud of Ethan for receiving this recognition. We know the commitment he demonstrated at AHS will serve him well as he graduates and moves onto his future plans.” “This award celebrates all that Ethan has accomplished in his years at Andover High School,” adds AHS Principal Philip Conrad. “Each day, Ethan provided leadership among his peers and set the example of service to his school community. We are thrilled he is being honored as a U.S. Presidential Scholar and his hard work is celebrated.”

The U.S. Department of Education honors two students from each state each year. Students are offered the opportunity to name his or her most influential teacher. Ethan choose to recognize Alison DiBenedetto, his math teacher at AHS. Created in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored over 7,500 of the nation’s top-performing students. Ethan will attend the annual ceremony to honor these students in Washington D.C. in June.
