Bridge the Gap Campaign Raises More than $430K

Funds raised will help alleviate some of the financial stresses of the school system.

The $1 million was very ambitious and when all is said and done, it looks like the Bridge the Gap campaign for the Arlington schools came about halfway there.

The Bridge the Gap campaign has been working to raise money to help reduce some of the cuts the schools face because of the $4 million budget shortfall. The money will go directly towards the running of the schools and will be used for teacher's and specialist's salaries that might otherwise be cut.

The campaign officially ended last night (June 7) and Amy Speare, the marketing manager, announced that in six weeks, the committee "raised an incredible $430,000 - and we are still processing the online auction, PayPal donations and checks."

The meeting will take place in the School Committee room on the sixth floor of the high school and can also be viewed on cable on Comcast Channel 10, RCN Channel 15 or Verizon Channel 26.
