Common Ground Facing Last Real Hurdles Monday

The Common Ground gastropub proposal for Arlington Center made it through the Redevelopment Board unscathed. Now it’s time for the Board of Selectmen to act.

The restaurant/bar will be before the board Monday, Sept. 9, for operating and alcohol licenses, as well as public entertainment and outdoor seating permits, according to the board’s agenda.

The licenses/permits are the last real hurdles standing in the gastropub’s way. The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Chambers on the second floor of Town Hall.

Common Ground, which already has a location in Allston, is slated for the old Gemma spot, at 319 Broadway on Broadway Plaza.

Common Ground owner Bob O’Guin’s attorney, John Leone, has said he thinks the gastropub’s chances of getting outdoor seating are “iffy at best.” In the last plans we saw, the gastropub was seeking 28 outdoor seats.
