April Level 1 Doumbek Drumming Class

Are you an African or Latin hand drummer looking for something new? Seen a doumbek and always wanted to play one? This class will teach you the basics of playing doumbek.

We'll cover what to look for when buying a drum, how to hold one, how to make specific sounds, how to keep time, and a method of reading and writing rhythm notation. We'll use some rhythms from the Middle East and Central Asia, in both their bare forms, and with some simple rhythmic ornamentation to keep them fresh and exciting.

This class will help prepare you to advance to the Level 2 Doumbek Drumming Class.

This is part of a continuing cycle of doumbek drumming classes operating in 4-week segments.
