The numbers in the elementary schools are uneven depending on the teachers' professional status. "Professional status teachers who may need to be laid off will be given notices by June 15," according to the release.
As positions become available again, whether through retirements or through the Bridge the Gap campaign to raise $1 million for the schools, teachers will be notified.

In total, the schools are losing 40-46 teaching positions; However, "that does not necessarily equate to 40-46 teachers who will actually be laid-off," Bodie said.
"Some positions held by teachers who retire, resign, or take a leave may not be filled. Some positions may be reduced to part-time positions, which affects a teacher, but the teacher would still have a job, although not a full-time position."
