Is ‘Dighams’ a Good New Name for the Arlington Heights Brigham’s?

The Arlington Heights Brigham’s ownership team is considering changing the ice cream parlor’s name to “Dighams,” owner John Mercer recently told Boston.com.

In June, news broke that the four remaining Brigham’s-named restaurants, which are run as independently-owned franchises, would be forced to change their names, as Brigham’s ice cream would no longer be selling the three-gallon tubs.

With the last ice-cream delivery set for later this month, the Arlington and Quincy locations are the only ones left with the Brigham’s name, according to Boston.com.

Both will begin serving ice cream from Sugar Maple Creamery in Wilmington, according to the report.

“It compares, but it will never replace,” Mercer told Boston.com about the new brand. “Dedicated Brigham’s customers will like it, they’ll be OK with it, but it’s not Brigham’s.”
