Police Chief Ryan To Stay Put In Arlington
The 16-year head of the Arlington Police Department won't be leaving for the MBTA after all.

Back in December, it appeared longtime Arlington Chief of Police Frederick Ryan would depart for a slightly more lucrative position as chief of the the MBTA Transit Police. But today, news broke that he’s changed his mind.
“I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity offered to me by the Transit Police,” said Ryan, according to the town’s official statement. “However, after consulting with my family, I believe that what is best is for me to remain with the Arlington Police Department. This will afford me the opportunity to finish what I have started in Arlington while remaining close to home.”
The MBTA tapped Ryan to replace Paul MacMillan, who retired as MBTA chief of police on Nov. 1, 2014. Ryan was scheduled to take over the job on Feb. 1., 2015.
