UPDATE: Pleasant St. to Re-Open Shortly After 8-Hour Closure

Police say the vehicle struck a utility pole on Pleasant St., causing downed power lines.

ARLINGTON, MA—Arlington Police responded to 160 Pleasant St. for a serious car crash Tuesday, which closed the road for approximately eight hours.

Arlington Police Capt. Richard Flynn told Patch that a vehicle struck a Verizon pole in the area of Norfolk Rd. The utility pole was damaged and power lines are down. Pleasant St. was closed from the Concord Turnpike access road to Massachusetts Ave.

Police announced at approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday that the road would re-open shortly, and crews did not foresee the closure affecting the remainder of the evening commute.

In the announcement, Police added that a Ford truck had struck a utility pole, causing damage to the pole and power lines.

Flynn told Patch that the operator of the vehicle has been transported to a local hospital, but that no further information was available on his condition.
