Boston Calling 2019: Day 1 Hidden Gems
Twenty-one Pilots and the other headliners drew huge crowds, but check out the hidden gems for day 1 of Boston Calling 2019.

BOSTON — Twenty-One pilots, Travis Scott, Tame Impala, Odesza — the line up for Boston Calling has some headliners this year that are sure to draw a crowd. But what about the rest of the lineup? Some people come late to music festivals, but if you do, its easy to miss out on some of the hidden gems the three-day festival has to offer.
Check out some of the other bands that left a lasting impression on Day 1 of Boston Calling 2019:
Pale Waves
I had never listened to these English indie poppers, but they were so catchy, I was learning the words to " There's a Honey" by the end of the set. If you're looking for something new to check out with high-energy and a good pop sensibility, give Pales Waves a shot.

Mura Masa
This DJ from the British island of Guernsey wasn't your typical electronic music producer. With live drum effects, guitar, and some energetic vocals, Mura Masa had the crowd moving early even with the afternoon slot.

Tank and the Bangas
This was another set I went into blind and ended up loving the band's sound. Tank and the Bangas mixed hip hop with soul, a little bit of saxophone, and the powerful range of lead singer Tarriona "Tank" Ball. If this band can't make you dance, I don't know what will.
