Braintree Bike Chase Ends in Arrest
Information in this article is from the Braintree Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned do not imply conviction.

Braintree police took one person into custody Sunday evening after a bike chase on Quincy Avenue.
Sean Mulvaney, 47, of Braintree was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and failing to appear upon recognizance. He had two warrants for assault to murder and shoplifting.
Police say that Mulvaney was riding a bicycle northbound on Quincy Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. when an officer verified that he had outstanding warrants. While waiting for additional officers to arrive, a cruiser followed behind at a slow speed. Upon the arrival of additional officers, the pursuing officer pulled in front of Mulvaney in an effort to block his path of travel. Mulvaney allegedly steered around the police cruiser and rode across four lanes of traffic on Quincy Avenue without regard for passing motorists.

Mulvaney continued to flee from the officers, riding in and out of traffic and causing traffic to come to a halt. While zigzagging around the police cruiser, Mulvaney struck the right front fender and fell to the ground.
Mulvaney was taken into custody after a brief struggle and was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

This isn’t the first time Mulvaney was chased by police this year. In July, he received a summons for two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (moped), failure to stop for police, operating to endanger, resisting arrest, unlicensed operation of a moped, speeding, a helmet law violation, a one way sign violation and failure to stay in marked lanes after a slow speed pursuit through Boston, Quincy, and Braintree in July. In that chase, police say that Mulvaney, while on a moped, refused to stop and drove at two officers standing in the road.
Mulvaney was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday morning.
