Braintree Councilor Sean Powers Running For Mayor
Town Councilor Sean Powers is running to be Braintree's second ever mayor after Mayor Sullivan announced he's not seeking reelection.

BRAINTREE, MA — Town Councilor Sean Powers has announced he is running for mayor. Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced last month he wasn't seeking re-election, leaving November's race wide-open.
"Our quality of life is the envy of the South Shore and each day we must get up andwork to keep making Braintree even better," Powers said in a statement.
Powers is a life-long resident of Braintree and has served in town government since the age of 18, when he was elected as a town meeting member in 1999. Powers was then elected in 2001 to the Braintree School Committee where he also served as chair from 2008 to 2010.

In 2009, Powers was elected a councilor at-large and served as the Town Council president from 2016-2018. He is the chairman of the Braintree July 4th Celebration Committee and is involved with the town's annual toy drive to benefit the Marge Crispin Social Services Center.
