BRAINTREE, MA — Town Councilor Sean Powers has announced he is running for mayor. Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced last month he wasn't seeking re-election, leaving November's race wide-open. In 2009, Powers was elected a councilor at-large and served as the Town Council president from 2016-2018. He is the chairman of the Braintree July 4th Celebration Committee and is involved with the town's annual toy drive to benefit the Marge Crispin Social Services Center.
