Residents, especially older adults and those with health conditions, are urged to use EPA-registered repellents, wear long sleeves at dusk, and eliminate standing water around homes until hard frost ends mosquito season.
   

2. Yes, the Beacon Street Bridle Path is still in the works. Here's where the project stands (brookline.news) — Brookline's long-discussed Beacon Street Bridle Path is still moving forward, with design work underway and a 17-member Design Review Committee preparing public meetings in January, March, and May 2027. Federal and town funding are secured, but survey issues and MBTA station planning have caused delays. Residents will have multiple chances next year to weigh in on the protected bike and pedestrian median path.

Bay Cove Academy to Reopen After Renovations (high-profile.com) — Bay Cove Academy, a therapeutic day school on Lawton Street in Brookline, is set to reopen on October 13 after major renovations to its 12,000-square-foot first floor. Operated by Justice Resource Institute, the school serves adolescents with complex educational and social needs. Leaders say the upgraded space will better support students' safety, learning, and long-term goals while keeping the program rooted in Brookline.
   

4. Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Wed 112 Years Ago Today: Inside Their Boston Wedding and Family Legacy (newsbreak.com) — Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy's 1914 marriage is remembered today for launching a political dynasty that began its family life in Brookline. Their first home here preceded the births of Joe Jr. and JFK and helped root the future president's early years in the town many residents still associate with the Kennedy legacy.
