1. Police Officer Put On Leave Due To Investigation In Burlington (patch.com) — Burlington residents are learning that police Lt. Peter Abaskharoun has been placed on paid administrative leave while facing charges of assault and battery on a family or household member and witness intimidation. Chief Thomas Browne says the department is conducting both a criminal and internal investigation and stresses that the allegations do not reflect the department's values.

2. Proposed Burlington substation would take pressure off existing stations (homenewshere.com) — Burlington residents are being asked for input on Eversource's proposed Burlington Energy Project, a new 115‑kV substation near Winn Street that would ease strain on overloaded Woburn and Burlington stations. Construction could start in 2028, but neighbors can weigh in sooner at a Sept. 24 public meeting at Grand View Farm or via Zoom, with drainage and neighborhood impacts key concerns.

3. Burlington Awarded Tree Planting Grant for Terrace Hall Area (bcattv.org) — Burlington just secured nearly $75,000 in state funding to plant 40 new trees and cool the Terrace Hall neighborhood, including around Francis Wyman Elementary School and nearby industrial streets. Residents and business owners can learn if their properties qualify and help plan tree locations at a public meeting on October 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Francis Wyman School Library.

ICE Boston: Laotian Illegal Alien Convicted of Child R*pe Deported 21 Years After Removal Order (newbedfordguide.com) — Federal immigration officers recently arrested a Laotian national in Burlington who, according to ICE, had a long-standing removal order and a conviction for rape of a child, and he was deported on September 8. ICE Boston highlighted the case as part of its focus on removing people it labels dangerous criminal noncitizens, though independent verification of the man's full legal history was not immediately available.
