Cambridge Man Indicted On Interstate Sex Trafficking Charges

One of the women the man is accused of trafficking was underage at the time of the reported crime.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A resident was indicted on multiple charges related to sex trafficking Wednesday, according to the United States District Attorney’s Office District of Massachusetts and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Daniel Rodriguez, 36, is accused of forcing four separate women to engage in commercial sex from 2018 until this January. According to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office, one of the women was a minor when Rodriguez first began trafficking her. He has officially been charged with one count of sex trafficking of a minor, four counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, one count of attempted sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and one count of knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing, and coercing an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in prostitution. In addition to Massachusetts, Rodriguez’s activities reportedly spanned across the states of Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maine.

“Rodriguez is alleged to have used multiple tactics to force his victims to engage in commercial sex on his behalf, including but not limited to physical violence, stalking and fraud,” the DA’s Office said.

Rodriguez was arrested in January after his car crashed during a high-speed chase with police in the city of Randolph.

The defendant could be facing a potential life sentence if convicted of all charges. The charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and attempted sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion carry minimum mandatory sentences of 15 years in prison, The charge of sex trafficking of a minor carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years, and the charge of coercing a person to travel for purposes of prostitution provides for a sentence of up to 20 years. Rodriguez was apprehended through FBI Boston Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force investigation.
