Artist Reception and Pottery Demonstration

Artisans Way Gallery, Concord, MA, Pottery, Luke Chen, Three Wheel Studio, Nov. 19, 12pm-4pm, Demonstration, 10% off sale

Artisans Way, a Fine Art and Contemporary Craft Gallery in Concord, MA, welcomes pottery artisan Luke Chen. Luke, the founder of Three Wheel Studio, will be present for an artist demonstration on Saturday, November 19th from 12pm – 4pm. An extended collection of his work will be 10% off for the event.

Luke was born in a farming village in the southern part of Taiwan and considers himself very fortunate to have come from a family that encouraged artistic endeavors. Luke’s earlier dreams of becoming a painter in Paris surprisingly evolved into a career as a studio potter in New England. He was introduced to the world of clay as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design and has never looked back.

Although not classically trained as a potter, Luke believes that clay suits him perfectly. Combining the ideas he sees around him with anything his imagination can conjure, he feels the beauty he sees everywhere translates well within his work. Viewing clay as a forgiving medium and foregoing the accepted pottery practices, he finds that his ideas sometimes meet with great success or amusing end results. Either way, it makes him want to explore the endless possibilities of working with clay.

Recently, he’s become more comfortable in calling himself a studio potter. It started one day when he opened up his kiln and found an almost perfect little tea bowl with just the right glaze. To a potter, that was a perfect day.

Luke’s work is shown in fine galleries and Museum shops across the country and exclusive designs are featured in some of New England’s finest restaurants.
