Amazon to Seek Town Approval for Bookstore
The internet commerce giant is planning to open a store at Legacy Place.

DEDHAM, MA — The agenda for Thursday's selectmen meeting has confirmed that Amazon is indeed planning to open a store in Dedham.
The Sept. 29 meeting of the board has the agenda item "Discussion & Vote Re: Request for Common Victualer License; Amazon Retail, LLC, 246 Legacy Place #246, Dedham" scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
News of the store broke last week when nearly 20 openings for the store appeared on the Amazon job site. The Boston Globe was the first to report the new store at Legacy Place.

Amazon currently has bookstores in Seattle and San Diego. Additional stores in Portland, Ore. and Chicago are planned. They also have 20 pop-up retail sites, including one at the Natick Collection.
Amazon stores offer a mix of the old and new, selling books alongside Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Echo smart-home devices.

Also listed on the agenda is a discussion on a combined public safety building, a presentation on Livable Dedham, and a question session with candidates for the conservation commission.
