Avon Man Still Missing After Alleged Kidnapping

A Dedham police officer was arrested last week in connection with the incident.

Despite recent developments in an alleged kidnapping in January, an incident to which two Dedham men are connected, authorities continue to investigate the disappearance of Avon resident James Robertson, the Boston Globe reported Monday.

Two men reportedly arrived at Robertson’s home in January, displayed law enforcement badges and took him away. The two men believed to be involved and posing as police officers were subsequently arrested, and last week, Dedham Police Officer Michael Schoener was arrested in connection with the incident, accused of allegedly providing the police-related equipment used in the alleged kidnapping.

“The charges against Officer Schoener are serious,” said Dedham Selectmen Chair James MacDonald in a statement last week. “We have confidence in the district attorney, law enforcement and judicial system. The men and women of the Dedham Police Department come to work to protect and serve our community. We have 100 percent confidence in the ability of the men and women of the Dedham Police Department who do a tremendous job every single day.”
