Police Log: Phone Scams, a Phone Charger Dispute and Driver 'Dozes Off'

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in police reports.

Wednesday, March 16

• 12:14 p.m: A male employee complained that his female co-worker accosted him because she thought that he stole her phone charger, which he claims he did not. The female co-worker then allegedly began yelling at the male employee and hit him multiple times in the face. The officer on duty at the time of the complaint observed slight swelling below his eye. The female employee claims she was defending herself after he put his hands on her. Police advised the male employee to file a claim with .
• 1:42 p.m.: Officers responded to Barrows Street after a reported hit-and-run incident involving a vehicle striking a fire hydrant and leaving the scene. Police are still investigating the incident and working to locate the vehicle involved.
• 10:41 p.m.: Officers responded to the intersection of Birch Street and Dedham Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident. The operator of motor vehicle that caused the collision stated that he “must have dozed off” before swerving into the other vehicle. The operator was cited for failure to stay in marked lanes.
• 11:02 p.m.: Officers arrested Valerie Cenat and Nerlandy Bosquet for allegedly shoplifting from . Cenat reportedly stole $158 worth of merchandise and Bosquet $78.

Thursday, March 17

• 2:39 p.m.: Police responded to a claim of phone threats. The male witness claimed he was at his grandmother’s house when she received a call from a man with a Jamaican accent claiming to represent a sweepstake company. The witness said his grandmother has been receiving calls like this for some time and has sent them money in the past. When the witness told the caller to stop soliciting his grandmother and harassing her over the phone, the caller allegedly threatened to kill him if he did not do as he was told. The witness was apprehensive that the caller knows where his grandmother lives. Police are investigating the incident and have instructed both the witness and his grandmother to call 911 if they feel threatened in any way.
