Starving Dog Abandoned in Dedham Put to Sleep
Stitch was found a week ago abandoned and suffering from extreme starvation.

DEDHAM, MA - A dog found in Dedham abandoned and suffering from extreme starvation was put down over the weekend.
The Animal Rescue League of Boston announced Monday, that the decision was made Saturday after it was discovered that the 2-year-old dog named Stitch had a muscular condition that affected his ability to digest food and water called megaesophagus.
“While we are heartbroken he came to us too late to save, we are grateful to have been there to surround him with kindness and caring in his final days,” Animal Rescue League President Mary Nee said in a statement.

On Jan. 25, Dedham Animal Control officer Jayson Tracy received a report of a dog suffering from extreme starvation. Stitch was taken to the Animal Rescue League of Boston for medical treatment.
During his recovery, Stitch did not respond well to re-feeding, according to the group. After receiving the test results and Stitch unable to take in water on his own, the group decided the most humane thing to do was put him to sleep.
