2nd DUI For Falmouth Man In Crash: Police

David Rodriguez, of Falmouth, was arrested after poice said he crashed on the East Falmouth Highway.

FALMOUTH, MA — A Falmouth man was arrested for his second drunk driving offense after crashing into a utility pole, police announced this week. David Rodriguez, 53, was charged with a host of crimes. A woman riding in the passenger seat was taken into protective custody because she was so drunk, police said.

The crash happened Sunday, June 11 at about 9:30 p.m. on the East Falmouth Highway, police said.

"An investigation revealed that the vehicle had left the roadway, and then struck and severed a utility pole," police said in a statement. "In addition, the male operator was found to be intoxicated and placed under arrest ... The adult female passenger was placed in protective custody."

An Eversource crew responded to the scene and repaired the pole.

Rodriguez was charged with DUI (second offense), negligent driving, a lane violation and driving with a suspended license.
