Cape Cod Man Embezzled Nearly $300K From Clients: AG

The president and CEO of a Taunton insurance agency stole hundreds of thousands and left his client companies uninsured, authorities said.

SANDWICH, MA – A Sandwich man at the head of a Taunton-based insurance agency was indicted in connection with an embezzlement scheme that left his client companies uninsured, Attorney General Maura Healey said.

David Pietro, 63, and his company, DGP Miles Insurance Agency of Taunton, were indicted Monday by a statewide grand jury on five counts of larceny over $250.

Pietro, a licensed insurance broker, collected insurance premiums from clients through his company and failed to remit the premium payments to their insurance carriers, according to Healey's office. His client companies had various commercial insurance policies canceled and were left uninsured, Healey said.
