Cape Cod Sex Offender Sentenced For Child Rape
The convicted child rapist pleaded guilty to raping two children in the late 1980s, including the child of a woman he dated.

YARMOUTH, MA – A convicted sex offender living in Yarmouth pleaded guilty this week to two counts of statutory rape of a child, police said. Kevin Cahoon, 56, was sentenced to 5-7 years in state prison.
Cahoon, a Level 3 sex offender stemming from a previous child rape conviction in 1991, was accused of sexual assault on an intellectually and developmentally delayed 38-year-old person in 2015. The woman was later determined unable to testify due to her disability, police said.
Cahoon injured Yarmouth police officers when he fired two marine flare guns at them while they took him into custody, police said. When news of Cahoon's arrest spread, two friends came forward to accuse him of raping them when they were children in the late 1980s. One was the child of a woman Cahoon dated from 1985 to 1990, according to police.

"Some of these rapes occurred simultaneously while both victims were approximately age 11 or 12," the Yarmouth police department said in a statement.
Upon completion of his sentence, Cahoon will be subject to civil commitment based on the findings of a Sexually Dangerous Person hearing, police said. The additional commitment could be anywhere from one day to life in a secured treatment facility.
